Footballer of the Year:

*Yawn* FIFA have voted Zinedine Zidane 2003 footballer of the year. *Yawn* Surely second placed Thierry Henry’s performance at Arsenal this season was more deserving.

In my books, however, Ruud Van Nistelrooy was this year’s big dog. The Dutchman’s presence at Manchester United has been formiddable, making Beckham’s move to Real Madrid worth less than “pfft.” To get an idea of this man’s potential you need look no farther than his 60 league goals for the club in under 3 years quite remarkable when you compare that to Ryan Giggs’ 84 league goals in 13 years — sure Giggs is a midfielder, but he’s no slouch. Oh, and Ruud did this. Ruud carries the team, Ruud leads the team, Ruud inspires the team, Ruud entertains the fans. I only hope he can do the same for the Netherlands at Euro 2004.

Ok, so just maybe I’m a little biased as a Man U. supporter, and because I’m 12.5% Dutch. Still, if he doesn’t walk away with that award next year … I won’t really give a sh*t anyways. I’ve never been one to go by that sort of thing in the first place.

Nah Ryan, I think Zizu definately deserved to take the award, especially taking into consideration his performances for Real Madrid and France.

I think Ruud and Beckham should have been higher up the list thought.
